You don’t have to find out you’re dying to start living.

Tonight I sat down and wrote a new blog post.  It was yet another sarcastic, maybe angry, post against the common core state standards machine.  I didn’t click publish when I was done writing it, I paused.  My daughter then came in and asked me, “what is a shrew?”  Five minutes later when the shrew explanation was over, I checked my email before going back over and clicking publish…

This year I have a student.  She’s the type of kid that makes it hard for you to stay angry at the world.  She’s the type of kid that will seek me out to say good morning, as a reminder to me that it is a new day, and I will only have one chance to live it, and if I get it right, one day will be enough.

When I checked my email I found a message from her.  It was sent at the same time I finished my post.  She wrote:

Hi Mr. Bogush, I just came across this video and thought it was absolutely amazing, and I thought you would like it, so I had to share! It’s definitely worth the 20 minutes, and it really goes to show, you have to live life to the fullest.     http://goo.gl/SJoxp

After watching the video there was no way I could hit publish on my original post.  So instead, I will leave you with the video that she shared…it is worth the 20 minutes.
